Time for Challenge #3 at Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe. This week we want to see what you can do using our chalk and stamps with a sentiment. This is so easy. Using a glue ink pad or other sticky on your stamp, stamp it and then brush the chalk on. Don't worry about the extra, it will easily brush off leaving behind a little color or a lot of color, depending on what look you want.

Here is my inspiration for you this week. I used chalk on the cake and icing, her dress and apron. I also used Copic markers for hair, skin and dark blue trim. I applied the chalk directly to the paper, it is so wonderful that it comes with a fixative in the chalk because the color stays put. I always apply chalk in light layers so I can get the color I want. The other materials are from my never ending stash, and I do mean never ending! The stamp is from Stamp N Plus Scrap N's rubber stamp line called Patti's Kids. There are a ton of adorable kids and animals to choose from. See them starting HERE.

This is such a fitting challenge theme for me this week. This week I have had a lot of things occur that were not expected and I was freaking out. I'm hope that starting today things will fall back into their normal, or as close to normal as possible, routine.

Chalk-AH-Lot Cafe Challenge #2

For this challenge you need to use chalk direct to paper. You can use Versamark or just brush directly to your paper project and you can use ANY chalk and ANY image. Challenge runs for 2 weeks.

Starting with challenge #3 you MUST use OUR STAMPS and OUR CHALKS.

Since this is a CHALK challenge we will show you each week on the blog different samples and give you suggestions of different ways to use your chalk. With my card below I used chalk directly to paper on his jeans and shirt. First I outlined with Copic's that closely matched the chalk colors. Then I applied the chalks using a paint brush - dip in chalk, tap off excess, apply. VERY EASY! Outlining with markers helps me stay inside the lines when I apply chalks so I almost always do this.

Dilly Beans Challenge

This week our challenge theme is Frosty!

I decided that Frosty needed a little bling so I added her shiny scarf and I also used some Chalk-Ah-Lot Stardust powdered chalk to get a frosty appearance. In my stash I found some diet cut snow flake paper that I adhered to a light pink background and stitched on to the dark pink background. Some of the frosty sparkle doesn't show in the picture but it's there. We can't wait to see what you do with our Frosty Challenge so be sure you link up to to the Dilly Beans Designers and Friends challenge blog!

Wicked Wednesday Challenge!

I'm loving this ATC challenge from Wicked Wednesday it's The 60's! My oldest 2 kids once asked me if I was a hippie? LOL, no I was born in the 60's not quite old enough to be a true hippie but maybe since everything is going so retro, I'll get my chance! Talk about embarrassing them to death!

I used a Dilly Beans digi image, Copic Markers, Glossy Accents Crackle and the rest of the goodies are from my stash. Check out the design teams ATC's, very talented ladies over at Wicked Wednesday. Peace!

Today is the Day!!

It's time for the very first Chalk-Ah-Lot challenge! I'm excited to introduce you to this wonderful power chalk if you aren't familiar with it already. It's has so many uses and can be mixed with so many mediums...you are going to LOVE it!

Challenges are going to run for two weeks and our first challenge theme is ANYTHING GOES (but you must use chalk somewhere)! All challenges following our first will require that you use our images and our chalks. Join the challenges at the Chalk-Ah-Lot Cafe!

Here's my very first card using chalk. The ribbon was colored using chalk color Crimson. I used Copic Markers to complete the rest of the card. I like the combination of the chalk texture and the smooth markers. My chalk was applied on top of a very thin layer of liquid adhesive.

Winter Wonderland!

I am just not a snow person but this year I am just waiting for it to snow. This is the first time, in my lifetime, that we have not had snow where I live in Illinois. We had a nice warm November and December and we are starting January off that way too. Very odd, but I guess global warming and all that... ANYWAY, here is my Winter Wonderland card!

I decided to try to stay away from traditional holiday colors but I found that I had to use red so there is a bit of red. Dilly Beans challenge that is. This week's challenge is great, combine three stamps into one creation. With Dilly Bean stamps it's so easy to choose three that will coordinate with each other. I have to say I took an easy out and made a holiday tag, but I like it.

For the challenge I used these images: penguin in long hat, bird house snowman, and three trees, all Dilly Beans stamps. The selection of digi stamps is HUGE at Dilly Beans Stamps. You will be amazed at the major selection for different holidays and just general stamps.

I colored using Copic Markers, patterned paper is by Cosmo Cricket, cardstock is Bazzill, other materials are from my stash.

One of the foster groups I volunteer for had a volunteer suffer a heart attack. Naturally the group wanted to lessen her load so they asked others in the rescue to take on her foster animals. When the email came to me I replied right away that I would help. Turns out she is the "small animal" coordinator so my new fosters are a bit smaller than my normal fosters.

The "pigs" are Zeke and Zander. They are very vocal and drive my dogs nuts. Thankfully I can keep the dogs out of the room where they are so there will be no unsupervised visiting.

The hamsters have charmed me, they are Kit and Kat. They are just plain cute, if you like rodents. I know not everyone does but these little hamster faces are sweet. Watch out Stuart Little you may have a little competition.

I guess I need to correct myself when people ask if I only rescue and foster dogs now I can say rodents too LOL! I draw the line at reptiles.

Black Hair??

iCopic's challenge is black hair or fur. This is a hard one for me because I have never been any good at black hair. I watched their tutorial and did some serious practicing and decided this one wasn't too bad. I still need to practice but with Copics practicing is always fun. You would think since 3 of my 4 kids have black hair it would be one of the hair colors I had perfected by now. Practice, practice, practice!

It's Wednesday so that means it's time to join Hambo Stamps and "Hoedown"! The challenge this week is to use a Hambo stamp and create something that includes a tag. Since this is a progressive challenge if you participated and followed the directions you should have received your new digi, Wee Henry Turkey. If your just starting and/or returning to the challenge use ANY Hambo Stamp.

My tag is attached to one of the baskets that I have on my kitchen counter. I decided that it was the perfect place to add some color and fun. I used Bazzill card stock, Copic Markers and miscellaneous scrap paper for the "feathers". Easy Peasy!

There's Farrrrm Goat, merrily hoofing along heading off to Timbo's party. "Oh NO " he snorts, "I just realized that I'm going to have to cross over the old bridge where that nasty old troll lives. He is going to be so jealous about Timbo's party that he will never let me across. How can I cross without him knowing I'm going to a birthday when I have Timbo's giant party hat." Farrrrm Goat thinks and thinks. "Oh how can I fool that nasty old troll", he says. Suddenly Farrrrm Goat knew what he had to do. He said, "I'll eat Timbo's hat, then I'll be able to sneak across." So Farrrm Goat munched and munched until he ate it all up. Then whistling innocently to himself he crossed the bridge and that nasty old troll could not have cared less.

How about a megaphone!! That's what I made this week for the challenge at Anyone For Anya. I love this cheerleader from The Greeting Farm, especially since this year my daughter is a cheerleader. RAH!!

I cut out a megaphone template then re-created it double so I could make it into a card that opens. Used my Copic Markers and some goodies from my stash for the rest Check out the Anyone for Anya and Friends challenge. Lovin' the eye candy!

I love challenges where anything goes. Sometimes it's fun to just aimlessly dig through the stashes of stuff I have and pick out random things to use. So Tiddly Inks Challenge 71 is Anything Goes! This is a re-purposed digi image because it was on a card before but my dog chewed it up (really) and I was able to save the digi. My dogs love to chew and they drive me crazy, yesterday one chewed up a flashlight, this morning is was a can of Off. ANYWAY, love this digi Christine, it's so versatile.

This was colored with Copic Markers and the embellishments and papers are all from my boxes of "stuff". Some of the paper I recognize as Cosmo Cricket and my cardstock is Bazzill.

It's time to Hoedown with Hambo Stamps

The challenge this week is to head on over to Split Coast Stampers Resources and choose a technique to use while creating your card for this week's challenge. Use any technique you want and since they have a HUGE variety to choose from you won't have a problem.

With my card this week I used the technique Copics with Pencils. I used my Prismacolor pencils with Copics and discovered that I really liked using them together. I haven't had my pencils out in a long while, had to blow the dust off the case, but now I plan to use this technique often. To get the details on the technique I used click HERE.

Hambo's Hoedown weekly challenge is a progressive challenge. So if you participated and followed directions you should have received your friendly Snail to work on. OK ladies, I'm looking for submissions for my article, Technique Turn, that will be in January's ScrapStreet Magazine. This can be any type of item, as long as you use the technique and we can see that you followed the directions. Now this doesn't have to be something brand spanking new and you can submit more than one creations so get busy sending me your eye candy.

Here is the technique I'm looking for:

Three stamps are better than one! Get your image or background stamps out and choose three that will work together. Think scene, backgrounds, embellishments or paper piece one stamp with another. You decide how to combine three to create one outstanding card or scrapbook page. Please no individual word stamps, we want to see the creative combination of your image or background stamps.

Think in a single color or monochromatic. Kraftin' Kimmies Challenge #102 is to create using one color or close colors. I love to do these using the color white or as close to white as possible. I used Bazzill cardstock and Copic Markers, along with some Stickles Crystal on the image. I did end up using some flesh/pink tones to be sure that the farie popped up off the page.

I love Halloween. Not the super gore stuff, the kid stuff. Cute costumes, happy kids pretending to be a princess or super hero, and the sugar high. I admit, I also love the candy part of Halloween the best. It seems that a lot of the candy disappears around our house and we need to re-stock up again a day before. I'm sure our house is haunted.... did I mention that I LOVE the sugar high? Happy Haunting!

This is the first time I have done brown as wood and I had a hard time getting it to where I wanted it and I'm still not 100% sure about it. I do really like the overall card, I guess I am my own worse critic!

Yes, I'm really excited to say that I'll be writing this section and I cannot wait to see all the creativity that you will submit. Today our foster dog, Snoopy, was adopted and he will have a new fur sister to play with too. His new owners drove 4 hours to come and meet him and pick him up. Naturally this was after I spend a lot of telephone and email time with them to get to know them, plus reference checks..... New dog bed!

Stanley, our foster that we adopted, is crazy for sleeping in the laundry baskets. He loves to bury stuff in them digging down under the layer of clothes which means I have accidentally washed quite a few chewy bones. The problem is he can't tell the dirty laundry from the clean laundry which doesn't bother him but it REALLY bothers me. So I solved the problem, he now has his own laundry basket bed. All the nice dog beds we have around here and he just loves this. A layer of blankets on the bottom make it soft and allow for easy hiding of chewy bones, the handle area works well for when his teeth are itchy and he needs to bite something. All in all, we are both happy with this arrangement. Not sure what we will do when he out grows this...

Yes, I was challenged on this. For Hambo Hoedown this week you were to incorporate something into your creation that was from around the house that you wouldn't normally use. Well there are a lot of things around here, but what would fit in an envelope when it come time to mail the card? Q-tips...of course. So I added to the bushes and the walk. I decided that the fun house image needed a fun background and what better than some Sassafras Lass! I love this crazy paper and the overall look for the card is wacky - but so am I!
