Shirley's 2 Girls Blog Hop!
Shirley's 2 Girls Blog Hop!
All of the blogs you visit today have lot's of eye candy AND a special "thank you". We hope we will inspire you in many ways!
I'm starting with a reminder that you need to leave a little love on every blog you hop to today : )
The image I used today is called "Honey". Which is available at Shirley's 2 Girls store.
First I made a card using the image.
Then I decided to try something I've never done before. I printed the image out on canvas. I used Claudine Hellmuth Studio, sticky-back canvas, which I have to say is mighty cool stuff. I wasn't sure how Copics would work on canvas, they work fine. However, since it was my first time I had a hard time getting my colors blended so my first try ended up visiting the wastebasket LOL. Since I only had one sheet and I didn't have enough to practice on again I decided that just adding a little color might be cool. My advice is when you are doing your first try with canvas print the image small that way you waste less on your practice run.
I had this little metal suitcase and I decided to use it to make a trinket box. Since my one color accent was red I added the flower for more color and dimension. Maybe I'll even get enough little "trinkets" from my hubby to fill it up!!
Shirley's 2 Girls asked that we share a reason related to paper arts that we are thankful for. Mine is... I am so thankful for all the talent you ladies share with me. Looking at creations on your blogs or those entered into challenges keeps me full of inspiration and makes me step out of my comfort zone to try something different (like the canvas). Your talents amaze me! I'm also thankful that I have the time to craft, the supplies available to do so, and so many crafting buddies! THANK YOU.
NOW, it's time for you to hop on. I have listed the complete hop list so if you need to start over you can. If you are hopping forward from my blog you want to go to Wendy's blog. Enjoy!
Wow, very cute idea!

ReplyDeleteprinting on canvas... how cool! I'm so very thankful for the deep deep love of God and for His graciousness as He loves so very unconditionally....
ReplyDeleteGreat card, and I just love the trinket box you've made with just a hint of color in your image. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad I didn't see this before the blog hop-sigh. Not so sure I would have posted mine! Beautiful coloring and love that you tried the canvas. I'd like to try that sometime, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, and I admire your bravery with the canvas:) You gave some very good advice, too. I am grateful for my online paper friends who are so imaginative:)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, the little suitcase is too cute! I am thankful to Stamping Dragon Designs, Ooh La La, Craft Your Passion and Shelly's Images for having me as a part of their design teams.
ReplyDeleteLove the trinket box.. canvas? Hmmm have to look that one up! Thankful for awesome inspiration!
ReplyDeletewell how cool that you tried the canvas! You are braver than me! :-) I have yet to try it. I seem to always jam my printer when I try to put any heavy paper in it so sure canvas would be eaten. I need to try it though because that's cool how you covered the tin! Thansk for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteGreat card but I'm in LOVE with your suitcase! I'm thankful for my friends in blogland who remind me that NO color can be awesome! Thanks.
