Saying Goodbye.

This is has been a really rotten week at our house.  It started with one of the boys getting sick, then sharing it with his brother, I caught it from them and then their sister started feeling rotten yesterday as well.  But the worst of all of this is that yesterday we had to say goodbye to Stanley, our 1 1/2 year old German Shepard.

Stanley was a foster dog we took in and all fell in love with so we kept him.  He was a perfect country dog, loved to follow the kids to the creek, play in the yard, keep the coyotes at bay.  He loved people, especially kids, and every day was really insistent that he ride to school with me to take the kids and pick them up.  He was unbelievably smart and learned things quickly. We were going to start doing therapy training this summer, I new he would love the job of doing reading programs in schools.

Unfortunately 1 month ago he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney failure and given 3-6 months to live.  He made it a month to the day of being diagnosed.  Yesterday he suddenly took a turn for the worse and we had to take him in.  I'm in bed with the flu with 4 crying kids with me while my husband had to carry him off.  He is at peace now, but unfortunately he leaves us all behind here very, very sad.

  1. so sorry to read this and he was so young he is over the rainbow bridge running around with all the other young dogs chasing each other and having a fun time. There is lots to eat and a loving man to spoil them with treats and loves so tell your kids he is not in pain and enjoying his new life.
